How to Track Color Copies in Copy Audit Touch

Some copiers can report color copy pages. These devices send an additional side pulse to the Copy Audit NCA to indicate color pages (and if capable - page sizes). If you are not sure that your copier supports color reporting, you can contact Print Audit Support at support@printaudit.com to verify this.

To configure a Color Tracking capable copier in Copy Audit Touch:

  1. Open the Print Audit Administrator (Start Menu --> All Programs --> Print Audit 6 --> Administrator).
  2. Click on the Copy Audit Touch icon on the left hand side.
  3. Select the copier and click on Edit.
  4. Select the Copy Audit NCA activity and click on the “Edit” button or just double click the Copy Audit NCA activity.
  5. From the “Side pulses” drop down, select the appropriate side pulse setting for your model of copier. Note: Incorrect side pulse settings can result in incorrect reporting of information. If your copier/manufacturer is not present in the list, side pulses may not be supported.
  6. Click on “Accept” to save your settings for the activity.
  7. Click on Save to save the setting for the copier.

To track Color jobs on a copier that does not support side pulses, you can create a Client Custom Field to prompt users to select if a copy job is color or B/W.  Please note that this method does not break documents down into individual color and B/W pages.

  1. Open the Print Audit Administrator (Start Menu --> All Programs --> Print Audit 6 --> Administrator).
  2. Click on the “Client Custom Fields” icon on the left hand side.
  3. Go to “New --> Custom Field”.
  4. In the “Name” field, add the name of the field that will be used to keep the color value.
  5. Change the “Type” drop down to “Option”.
  6. Add a two new Client Custom Field value with codes to indicate whether the job is color or not. For example, you can use “1” to indicate B/W and “2” to indicate a color job. Please note the alphanumeric value of the code will determine the order in which the two options are displayed.
  7. Exit out of the Add new value screen by clicking “Close”.
  8. Click on the Copy Audit Touch icon on the left hand side.
  9. Select the copier and click on Edit.
  10. Select the Copy Audit NCA activity and click on the “Edit” button or just double click the Copy Audit NCA activity.
  11. Click on the “Custom Field” tab.
  12. Check the Include box beside the field you created.
  13. Click on “Accept” to save your settings for the activity.
