How does Infinite Device Management detect a Toner change?

The Toner Change Alert in Infinite Device Management is triggered by either of these conditions:

  1. If the toner cartridge reports a percentage, a Toner Change condition is considered to occur when the cartridge is reporting 20% or less and then reports 75% or greater.  In the case of some Sharp devices that use 25% increments in their cartridge percentages, the lower threshold is 25%.
  2. If the toner cartridge does not report a percentage, a Toner Change condition is considered to occur when the cartridge goes from a "Low/Empty" state to an "OK" state.
  3. For toner cartridges that report a serial number, a Toner Change condition is considered to occur when the serial number changes.  This is independent of the toner level for the cartridge.

NOTE:
If for any reason, Infinite Device Management cannot identify the toner level of the cartridge ie: it reports as "unknown", then Infinite Device Management will not be able to detect Toner Cartridge changes and won't generate alerts for that cartridge.
