Error "Cannot connect to Authentication Server


Issue:
  Sharp MFP comes up with an error "Cannot connect to Authentication server.

Cause:  The Sharp MFP is set to use a card reader for authentication but no card reader has been attached.

Solution:  There are two solutions to this issue:
  1. Attach the card reader to the Sharp MFP. 
  2. Disable the card reader authentication on the Sharp.  Log into the Sharp's embedded webpage using a browser.  Go to User Control --> Card Type /Card Reader Settings.  Un-check the box "Use IC Card for Authentication".  Reboot the Sharp MFP after changing the setting.
Note:  The error will say "Authentication" Server specifically.  An error stating that the MFP can't connect to the "Accounting" server is a different error.
