How to enable extended logging on the Print Audit Embedded - Kyocera client.

In some cases it may be necessary to generate additional logging information from the Print Audit Embedded - Kyocera client, usually at the request of development.

The logs from the Kyocera device will be streamed across the network to a listener running on a workstation. So enabling logging is a matter of setting the log level and destination on the embedded client, then setting up a workstation to receive and collect the logs.

Setting Log Level and Destination for logs:

1) Open Print Audit Administrator

2) In the side bar select Embedded Systems

3) Double click on the MFP running the client we want to generate extra logging from.

4) Select the Advanced Tab

5) Set the drop down menu for logging to "Full"

6) Set the Log IP to the address of the workstation

7) The default Log Port is 7000, ensure that is the value set.

8) Click the Save button

Setting up a workstation to receive the logs:

On the workstation whose IP you set in step 6:

1) Download LogConsole.zip

2) Extract LogConsole.jar placing it somewhere easy to find and remember

3) Open a command prompt

4) Navigate to the location where you saved LogConsole.jar

5) Right click in the title bar of the command prompt, select Properties

6) Select the Layout tab

7) Under Screen Buffer Size, set the height to 9999

8) Click OK

9) Run the following command:

java -jar Logconsole.jar

You should see the following:

10) Recreate the issue 2 or 3 times on the MFP

11) The command prompt window will begin to fill with lines of logging, this is the expected result.

12) After recreating the issue a couple/three times:

    a) Right click on the title bar of the command prompt

    b) Mouse over the Edit sub-menu, from the sub-menu choose "Select All"

    c) All of the window contents should be highlighted.

    d) Right click on the title bar again

    e) Mouse over the Edit sub-menu, from the sub-menu choose "Copy"

    f) Open Notepad, or another text editor

    g) Press CTRL - V to paste the copied log lines

    h) Save the resulting file somewhere easy to find and remember

    i) Open Windows Explorer, navigate to the file you created in step h

    j) Right click on the file, mouse over the Send To sub-menu, from the sub-menu choose "Compressed (Zipped) Folder"

    k) Add to this zip file any other logs/documentation requested, attach the zip file to your email reply to support@printaudit.com

Once you have collected and sent the logs, pressing CTRL - C in the command prompt window will stop LogConsole, at which point you can exit the command prompt using the 'exit' command.
