How to locate the Log files for Print Audit Embedded for HP

In some cases, it may be necessary to view or retrieve log files for Print Audit Embedded for HP to troubleshoot issues.  Logging in Print Audit for Embedded is done through the Windows Event logging.  The embedded application writes detailed information to the Windows event log during deployment and in run time using three different logging levels.

  • Information
  • Warning
  • Error

The logging for Print Audit Embedded can be found by:

  1. Open the Windows Event Viewer (Administration Tools --> Event Viewer.
  2. Expand "Applications and Services Logs".
  3. The HP Embedded logs are located under "Print Audit".
  4. The Error logs have a red circle with an exclamation mark in them.

To make a copy of an error log to forward to Print Audit Support:

  1. Click on the Error log entry.
  2. Right Click and go to "Copy --> Copy Details as Text.
  3. You can paste the results into a text file or directly into an email.
  4. The resulting entry will look like this
